In 3102 BC, after the Kurukshetra War, Ashwatthama attempted to kill Uttara's unborn child by invoking Brahmachirastra, a divine weapon of unimaginable destruction. For committing this act, Krishna, the eighth reincarnation of Vishnu, cursed him to wander the earth as an immortal and witness the misery of humanity due to the social and moral degradation of Kali Yuga. His divine jewel is also removed from his forehead, and his salvation is intended to come through the protection of the mother of Vishnu's next reincarnation, Kalki, at the end of the Kali Yuga.
In 2898 AD, six thousand years after the events of the Kurukshetra War, the abandoned city of Kasi is the last known city in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by Yaskin the Supreme, the totalitarian God-King. Yaskin rules from the "Complex", a massive inverted pyramid-shaped structure hovering above the city, extracting Earth's resources to maintain a walled paradise accessible only to those who can pay a million "units". His authority is reinforced by Commander Manas, Chancellor Bani, and the invaders, who vigilantly guard against threats, including the expected arrival of Kalki.
In this dystopian society, Cassie's fertile refugee women are forcibly transferred to the compound of Project K, an experiment to produce a serum to extend the life of Yaskin, 200 years old, through artificial insemination embryos. However, no woman survives more than 120 days of pregnancy, resulting in her death. Raya, a young girl disguised as a boy, narrowly escapes conscription with the help of rebels led by Rumi from the hidden city of Shambhala. [b] Rumi and Divya, a pregnant woman said to be carrying Kalki, are captured and publicly executed by Manas for refusing to reveal the location of Shambhala. After Manas placed a bounty on the Shambhala rebels, Raya took refuge in a cave where she confronted Ashwatthama. She brought him her divine jewel, Shivamani, which had been found and transported among the rebels of Shambhala. Together, they go in search of Kalki's real mother.
SUM-80, a Project K subject who hid her pregnancy for 150 days, is eventually knocked out and arrested. Manas extracts a single drop of blood serum from her fetus before the procedure is interrupted by Lilly, a Shambhala rebel posing as a member of Project K. Lilly helps SUM-80 escape the laboratory, but remains on place to repel invaders. The SUM-80 is received by Veeran, Kyra and Ajju, Shambhala rebels contacted by Lilly. Kyra renamed SUM-80 "Sumathi". En route to Shambhala, their caravan is ambushed by bounty hunters and raiders after Manas places a bounty on Sumathi. Although they repel the attackers, Kira is killed.
Bhairava, a bounty hunter aiming to get Sumathi's reward for entering the compound, is still chasing his artificial intelligence supercar, Bujji. Ashwatthama learns from her jewel that Sumathi's unborn child is Kalki. Despite Bhairava's efforts, Ashwatthama subdues him and the group reaches Shambhala, where the Tree of Life flourishes in the presence of Kalki. Bhairava makes a deal with Manas to arrest Sumathi in exchange for her entry into the compound.
Bhairava discovers Shambhala by tricking the rebel Luke and disguises himself as Ashwatthama using his hologram technology. He convinces Sumathi to flee Shambhala, but they are intercepted by the real Ashwatthama. During the fight, Mariam, the leader of Shambhala, tries to take Sumathi to safety. Manas and the invaders track Bhairava to Shambhala and break through its defenses with a beam weapon provided by Yaskin. The invaders overwhelm Chambalan's army and Mary is killed. Manas restrains Ashwatthama but Bhairava accidentally uses Ashwatthama's cane, which is actually the bow of Karna (Aswatthama's ally during the Kurukshetra war), Vijaya Dhanush.
Karna, now revealed to have reincarnated as Bhairava, temporarily awakens in Bhairava and defends Sumathi and Ashwathama against the invaders. Bhairava uses a bow to save Sumathi and kill Manas. Ashwatthama, who recognizes his ally, frees himself, but Bhairava returns to his old self due to the distraction caused by Bujji and takes Sumathi away. Returning to the compound, Chancellor Bani informed Yaskin of Manas's failure. He uses the extracted serum to transform into a much smaller superhuman. He picks up Arjuna's bow, Gandiva, and declares that he will personally capture Sumathi and her child to remake the world.
